Dear Members, Visitors, and Local Dog Owners,
We are increasingly facing an issue with dog fouling on the outfield of Farnham Royal Cricket Club. This is not only disrespectful to our grounds but also poses serious health risks to players and visitors.
The dangers of dog fouling on sports fields are well-documented. Dog faeces can contain parasites such as Toxocara, which can lead to infections and even cause blindness if ingested or transferred to the eyes. In sports settings, where players frequently make contact with the ground, the risk of exposure is heightened. There have been cases across the UK where young athletes have suffered infections due to contaminated playing surfaces.
Unless findings of dog faeces are immediately eliminated, then FRCC will have to enforce that all dogs must be kept on leads at all times while on club premises. Owners are responsible for ensuring that their pets do not enter the playing field and that any mess is immediately cleaned up.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in all dogs having to be on a lead at all times whilst at the grounds. We take this matter seriously and will not allow irresponsible behaviour to compromise the safety and integrity of our facilities.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our club a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
