Farnham Royal Triumph on First Visit to Fulmer

Farnham Royal CC 2nd XI marked their first-ever trip to Fulmer CC with a convincing victory, chasing down 186 in style under glorious sunshine. The match also saw the debut of new skipper Martin Lynch, leading the team while Rich Morrison and young Oscar watched on intently from the sidelines.

First Innings: Farnham Royal Bowlers Take Control

Fulmer won the toss and elected to bat, but Farnham Royal quickly seized the momentum. Opening bowlers Faizan “Fizz” Mahmood and Amir Abbassi set the tone early, striking crucial blows in the top order. Later, Glenn Bucknell and Faisal Nawaz continued the pressure, picking up key wickets to restrict Fulmer to 186 all out in 43.3 overs.

David Morris (3-28) led the attack with precision, while Glenn Bucknell (2-22) and Faisal Nawaz (2-15) ensured Farnham Royal kept Fulmer’s scoring in check.

Second Innings: Abbassi and Barton Steer Farnham Royal to Victory

In response, Farnham Royal’s chase was anchored by an outstanding innings from Amir Abbassi, who played with confidence and flair, blasting a brilliant 101 off 93 balls. His knock featured 13 boundaries and 2 sixes, thrilling the traveling supporters.

Alongside him, Dale Barton crafted a composed 51, ensuring Farnham Royal crossed the finish line comfortably, reaching 190-3 in 29.5 overs. His contribution, steady and assured, ensured there were no late hiccups, guiding the team home with confidence.

Farnham Royal Start Season Under Bright Skies

Farnham Royal CC 1st XI kicked off their opening league game of the season under glorious sunshine, welcomed by strong support from club regulars at Church Road. Despite some impressive individual performances, including a fantastic return for Cameron Bruce, Farnham Royal fell short against a disciplined Hayes (Middlesex) CC 2nd XI, losing by 100 runs.

First Innings: Hayes (Middlesex) CC 2nd XI

Winning the toss, Hayes elected to bat and steadily built their innings, posting 258-8 in 45 overs. Mandeep Singh (70 off 62 balls) and Suraj Singh (66 not out off 91 balls) were the key contributors, while extras added 30 runs to their total.

Farnham Royal’s bowling unit battled hard, with Adnan Khandwala (3-48) making an impact alongside Taha Hamid (2-53). Despite these efforts, Hayes’ steady partnerships ensured they set a formidable target.

Second Innings: Farnham Royal CC 1st XI

Farnham Royal’s chase got off to a blistering start, thanks to a dashing, hard-hitting innings from Cameron Bruce (49 off 55 balls). He and Saqib Ahmed (18 off 25 balls) put together a 50-run opening stand in just 6.4 overs, exciting the home crowd.

New recruit Sohaib Muhammad (24 off 60 balls) also made an impressive debut, showing resilience in the middle order. Meanwhile, Taha Hamid (24 not out off 44 balls) provided a late flourish, battling against a relentless Hayes bowling attack led by Narinder Maan (5-8 in 6.2 overs). Farnham Royal were ultimately bowled out for 158 in 41.1 overs.

Summary

Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives for Farnham Royal. The club warmly welcomes new players such as Sohaib Muhammad and Adnan Khandwala, who put in strong performances. Cameron Bruce’s return was a highlight, as he played with attacking flair and determination.

Unfortunately, Farnham Royal suffered injuries during the game, making the challenge even tougher. However, they remain focused on bouncing back next week when they travel to take on local rivals Burnham CC
