Match report by Ben Nicholas

Farnham Royal continued their preparations for the season with a warm up game against a very strong Wokingham 2’s team.  Availability suffered a little due to Covid and Ramadan but a mix of youth and experience put in a strong performance that bodes well for the club.

Wokingham 301 for 8

FRCC 242 for 8

Dale Barton 35
Marwan Mohammed 32
John Emmanuel  26

Special mentions in dispatches must go to:
Brian Pace, our Head of Grounds, as the ground looked fantastic and how many tracks produce close to 550 runs at this time of the year.  Wokingham were incredibly complimentary as to the facilities.

Aadam Khan and Arjun Punj making their senior debuts and doing themselves proud.  Both impressed with their bowling and Arjun chipped in with useful runs at the end.  Hopefully, these are names to watch for at the club for a long time to come.

Tom Nicholas’s enthusiasm and excellent fielding.  We need more focus on fielding as it makes the team look better.

Final note for something that hopefully won’t catch on, quaffing ale from cricket boots as fines for misdemeanours.   My boots have seen some long hot days, blood and sweat, and are certainly not something that should be drunk out of … BUT Wokingham did have something similar going on, their fine for being late to the warm-ups was that a poor lad had to serve the drinks dressed only in a pinafore and his boxers.  Let this be a warning to players over punctuality or we may consider similar approach.
